We got back from vacation yesterday afternoon. A week in the north woods of Minnesota, playing in the water, around the water, and next to the water.
After the crematorium style heat we had been living in at home, I have to say, the weather was perfect. Every day was in the 70s, every night in the 50s, and the only rain that fell was while we slept.
Generally, we do a good bit of food gathering as a family activity while we are there, getting a year’s worth of blueberries and a couple of meals of fish in the freezer. This year the blueberries did not cooperate due to their having just as odd a year weather-wise as we were down at our house. First too cold, then too hot, then too wet, and no weather just right. The fish though, they cooperated just fine, we had a blast, ate all we could while we were up there, and we will be eating a variety of fish dinners in the weeks to come.
