And not just a little. Last week said this week would be highs in the 40s, lows in the 30s. Then Sunday was warm. Now it is supposed to stay warm until Wednesday night. Temps got close to 70 today. Meant I had to make a night trip back down to my parent’s to butcher Nell’s deer.
So I got it down off the rafter, put it on the gambrel, and hoisted it back up (all by myself, I was impressed).
My brother Mark was coming down to help with that part, and since I managed it without causing myself injury, I figured I would keep going.
Mark got there about 15 minutes after I was done skinning it, which is the harder part of it all, but was great to just hang out with him and watch meteors shooting across the sky until my parents got home so we could get into the house and get big trays from the kitchen.
Mark got a picture of me boning out one of the shoulders. I don’t usually show up in photos, so that was nice.
And at past my bedtime we had it all bagged up and ready to go in the deep freeze here. There is a cooler in the back of the van I will transfer it all to for taking home tomorrow. Maybe I will even get a few hours in on a deer stand in the morning. My tag is still not filled. Maybe I can do something about that. We will see.
