What You Can Do In An Hour

Last week I met with some clients who had just finished doing some improvements to their home and had needed to review all of their policies with me.  I noticed that they had a beautiful 15X30 foot raised bed garden behind their house which had not been planted.  I offered to bring over all the seeds and plants necessary to plant it, figuring I could get it done in an hour.  They had not gotten to it because they had been dealing with contractors and construction at their home over the last couple of months.

Today I had to meet a client early in the day at my office.  I am not usually there on Saturdays, but when that is the only time that works with a client, that is where I am.  I brought with me a flat of tomato plants, some peppers, basil, and a bunch of seeds.  After my appointment I stopped by the house I had been at earlier in the week, and in an hour we planted 24 tomato plants, 4 peppers, 3 basil, 45 feet of Dragon Tongue Beans, 2 hills of yellow zucchini, a hill of Thelma Sanders Sweet Potato acorn squash, a couple dozen cucumbers, two 10 foot rows of Detroit Red beets, and 6 hills of Painted Mountain corn.

Literally, within minutes of finishing planting the garden it started to pour.  We all stood in the garage and watched it come down while quaffing down a beer.  Everything we put in should make it to maturity before the end of summer.
