A Chance To Get Out

On my way to work this morning, I dropped Patti and Phoebe off at David’s again so Patti could work on the chicken coop during the day.  It was slammed busy at the office, but near the end of the day I suddenly had two homes I had to do photos of; one in South Minneapolis just north of the airport, and the other in Shakopee, which left me about 30 miles closer to home at 5 pm than I usually am.  I got home, changed, plants and tools loaded in the car and made a run to the Minnetonka garden.  The weather has been warm, windy, and sunny the last few days and the soil was easy to work.  Before it started to get too late I managed to get in 30 Jimmy Nardello sweet frying peppers, 3 Cherokee Purple tomatoes, 6 Joe Lauerer, 7 San Marzano, 12 Genovese Basil, 10 more hills of watermelon, 30 feet of pole beans, as well as hoeing around all of the potatoes, putting some 8 hills of corn around the bushing butternuts, and some weeding.  Poppies that grow at the eastern end of the garden are starting to bloom.  They really look nice. Not too bad for an evening where I didn’t expect to get anything done in the gardens.  Chicken coop is coming along.  Need to remember to take some photos before it is done.
