Baiscs: I took an 8 pointer opening morning at about 815 am. Claire filled her tag at 930 am today. Nell got busted by a nice buck and didn’t get a shot. I will take Nell back out next weekend which will be nice, just the two of us hunting together.
I was hunting with Claire when I took the first deer.
My brother Matt came out early (he was coming to help my dad split more wood) and gave me a hand with the deer. His dog Gunner was pretty freaked out by the deer.

Claire in her stand about 10 minutes before she got her deer.
Had to track it, which was a good experience for her. It went about 150 yards.
She has a good eye for it, but honestly, was an easy tracking job. She made a good shot.

Nell climbing to the outlook on the bluff.
We ate some apples up there while enjoying the view.
Weather is perfect for letting the deer hang. Next weekend we will process them, and any others we get, and the deer harvest season will be over. Then we relax on the food side of things until after the new year when we start seedlings again. <grin> The time of the year to relax and enjoy the fruits of all our labors is nearly here.
