The weather is about as perfect of an outlook as it can be. The only thing we do not have is a light covering of snow, which makes seeing deer easier than against a background of fallen leaves.
The extended forecast does not have any snow in it either. Lots can change in short order here in Minnesota, but for now, we have fairly stable temperatures all of the way through the first of the two hunting seasons. Highs in the 40s, lows in the 30s. Kids should be able to sit in their stands just fine without getting too cold, while it will be cool enough to have the deer moving around.
There has been a lot to this year which not only did not go as planned, but just flat-out went poorly. I have high hopes that deer hunting does not end up the same way. Perhaps I am pinning unrealistic hopes on the hunting season, but historically, we have the area and the deer figured out and we should have a few tags filled before the end of the weekend.
We will see. For now it is finishing up the packing of everything, making sure everyone has their licenses, and we will be hunting tomorrow morning. Good luck to all of you that are doing the same.
There are some big boys running the property in daylight.
