Today was the day at the Adickes farm for the event I had previously posted the flyer for here. I was out there on Wednesday finishing cleaning up the garden, and then back there again early this morning with my 3 older girls through the event. We worked through most of the first two hours of the event, then hung out with friends who stopped by to see things for a few hours, and afterwards finished the weeding projects we were working on.
Cats were all over me and Patti on Wednesday evening. One even rode my shoulders as I was mowing.
Patti finished first weeding in the cabbages and kale, then Nell and I mulched them all in with composted manure.
Winter radishes are up.
To finish that evening off Katrina gave all of the kids a “roller coaster ride” on the Gator.
I took this photo today, standing on the big gravel and sand pile, just after the event started. Was not too packed yet at this point, but it got to where there were hundreds of people, and tons of kids running around.
At any given time there were a few dozen kids playing around on the mountain, digging holes, building things, sliding down it, and in general having a great time.
Hay rides were also a big hit out there.
The pigs had been moved into one of greenhouses for the event. Was warm enough that they just wanted to sleep in their mud wallow.
And four hours later it was done and packed up. The ladies putting the event on went for an evening run around the farm on the gator and my daughters and I got back to finishing up the weeding we had been working on.
It all looks really good right now.
The Three Sisters planting is starting to show tassels. No anthers yet. But soon. The Bear Island Flint corn is fully tasseled at this point. I think this will be about two weeks behind it. Popcorn is not showing any tassels at all yet.
We finished our day there playing with some personable chickens.
And now I am physically done until I rest a bit. Hit my limit for the day, but it was a good one.
