Getting There

Things are shaping up at the Ness farm.  The plants were still there under the prolific weeds and other than between days most of two rows of beans being eaten, and me having to replant them, it is looking good.

Violet is having fun with all of it, but to keep her from trampling or pulling plants we want in the garden, the kids take turns entertaining her and keeping her safe on the periphery.

For the rest of us, it is simply a matter of getting the plants well ahead of everything else growing there.

The potatoes are happily flowering.  At some point in the next couple of weeks we will have to weed them clean and hill them up.

The earliest planting of corn, being the Painted Mountain, is well ahead of every other corn I have planted.

IMG_6326There is even a dwarfed one showing a tassel, and it is not summer yet.   At this rate, it will be done and dried down before mid summer.

Something there cleaned out the squash hills at this location.  Not sure if I will take the time to replant them or not.  I could put Mandan squash in and it would make maturity no problem, but with the location in the garden of the hills, the excessive vines would go places I really do not want them to go.  Will have to think about this one.
