Memorial Day Weekend, Home & Minnetonka Gardens

I was sore this morning.  Real sore.  Took a few cups of coffee and a few hours of moving around slowly before the anti-inflamatories kicked in enough to do much.  I putzed around in the gardens here, weeding here and there, put in a few Kenosha Paste tomatoes I am trialing in pots because I don’t have garden room for them, and just enjoyed the gardens here for a bit.Had to run people around today.  Patti to David’s to work on the chicken coop, Claire to a play-date with a school friend, and other bits and pieces of things.  Once I had picked up Claire at 4 pm I was able to head to the Minnetonka garden for a while.  Didn’t get a ton done there, but did manage to do some basic weeding, back-fill potatoes, plant zukes along the eastern fence (10 plants) and ten hills of watermelon in with the potatoes that have grown enough they dont need to be back-filled any more.  The watermelons should vine well between the rows of potatoes.  Worked pretty well last year.

I got my first plantings of tomatoes in there finally.  Just 6 Terhune plants and 6 Riesentraube.

I had brought more, but I got a call to head to David’s for dinner because everyone was hungry.  The plan had been to kill a half dozen of the juvenile roosters, but was running too late and we made a run to Dragon Jade in Glenn Lake (if you live in the area, try the Tiger Pork, extra hot if you can take it) and ate take-out Chinese at David’s house, then birthday cupcakes (Rebecca is 9 today).
