It is winter. For us, it really is the time to play and enjoy food. Last weekend Phoebe, my brother Matt & I went ice fishing. Pulled 200+ sunnies out of the water, and a couple crappies. Kept and ate a limit. Was a lot of fun.
Went to see and hang out with The Battle Cat again. Was a warm day today, edging above freezing for a few hours even. Wanted to see some pigs that we will be partaking of. They are two of the Red Wattle pigs that Benji and I were feeding corn to this last summer.
They are about 400 pounds now. Those blacks are about 250.
Next week McDonalds Meats will be processing them for http://pastureadickes.com/. We will get some bacon and lard from them. It is the one meat I do still buy, but like everything else, I want to meet and know it before we eat it. <grin>
So they have a bunch of greenhouses, and one of them is set up with the pigs and chickens. Honestly, nice to hang out with the animals there.
Chickens were feeling personable today.
It just was a nice winter day here in January.
