Just posting for the first time one of the odd whitetails we have taken off of my parent’s place in the past.
3 unbroken tines. 9 busted ones. Half of one main beam gone, 1/3 of the other. Just how many points he had prior to getting busted up we do not know.
This was one of the most skunked up rutted bucks ever taken on the property. We took other bucks that year as well, but they all had tine holes from fighting. Perhaps from this guy.
There has been a steep decline in the number of does we see an take over the course of a season. Honestly, We have been taking any doe we can because they taste better. Compared to this guy, a lot better. But we see far more bucks than does.
I suppose the antler point restriction bit has something to do with it. Deer have to be 4 points or more on once side to shoot. That means the 1.5 year old bucks are the deer most likely to live through a given deer hunting season.
Anyway, this guy had tines sticking out all over the place, and as I said, it would have been interesting to see before he busted his antlers apart while fighting.
