Farm Segue

So, started out at the Round Barn Farm Bed & Breakfast this morning down in Red Wing MN.  I got home, packed up meat cutting things, and headed to Pasture Adickes farm in Buffalo MN for the evening.  They had a heifer calving and needed to put her in the room where half a beef was hanging from when I took care of  a feral cow for them.  Now it needed to be made into chunks that could go into freezer bags.

Of course the same cat was there to greet me.  Jerid offered me the cat, but I declined.  The 3 we have is enough.  But it is a sweet affectionate cat.

It has been cold.  Really cold.  Temps when we started were 5 degrees, with sustained winds over 20 mph.  I tried working with knives.

Really tried.

I was getting not far, not fast.

Enter the Sawzall.

Yup.  That was what we needed.

You adapt to the situations you are thrown.  Resorting to the Sawzall meant some modification of plans, but every bit of it fit into gallon or smaller freezer bags in just under 2.5 hours.  Not bad.  Then they fed me and Phoebe, who had come to play with their daughter Bella, and we came home.  For the first night in near a week I will be sleeping in my own bed.  My belly is full, and since I am sure my half of the beef is just as frozen as theirs was, we will be back Wednesday night to do up mine, since I do not have a Sawzall.  Jerid has a couple.  In case you break one.  Or two.  As the case might be.
