Two Days of Fruit Preservation

IMG_2507

Well, we had to haul all of the fruit we harvested out of the freezers when I brought the venison home.  Quarts, pints, half-pints and quarter pints of strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, grapes, currants, hot peppers (yeah, make great jelly) rhubarb (ok, that is a vegetable, not a fruit) all had to be processed NOW so that they were not taking up room in the freezer.  It is now all syrups, preserves, jam, and jellies.

And I harvested all of the leaf celery which has to be blanched and dehydrated now because it is going to turn cold, as in cold enough to kill celery, shortly, and letting it die outside this weekend would have negated the reason I planted it inside last winter.

It is really feeling like we can coast to the finish line for the year now.  Holidays are coming up, and along with them is the season where we get to relax and just enjoy all we have done throughout the year.

Patti just pointed out to me that I missed a whole shelf of jelly for the photo.  Oh well.  Not setting up the photo again and deleting and adding more photos to the blog.  Just if YOU want to add up what we did from the photo, add 10 to whatever total you come up with.
