Weather Is Perfect And I Cannot Do A Damn Thing

Frustrating.

My surgery was on the 18th.  Full anterior/posterior lumbar fusion.  I was able to demonstrate the ability to dress, undress, feed myself, walk some distance, etc, fairly quickly so I was out of the hospital earlier than was expected.

I can walk.  Really well in fact.  There is not any sciatic pain and just have to deal with surgical pain.

But no bending for now.  The ground is right there, but I cannot put a spade into it, or drag a rake across it.  Patti is also finding that her ability to do things on the ground is greatly limited.

Maybe tomorrow I can cajole some people to help with the front garden, or another planting of peas in the back.  We will have to wait and see.  Snow is all gone, perennials are up, and the itch to work the soil is as bad as the itch I take medication for in regards to all of the healing internal and external sutures on my body.

  1. Hmm. OK. Well I guess if for some reason Madison WI and it’s surrounding environs are attacked you’ll show us all how it’s done.

Tom if you can be patient I will come and help you for an entire day. You will have at least 6 of my dedicated hours to helping you get some of the food you need in to the ground as soon as I can. Hang in there, please. And there is time to plant beans, squash, tomatoes, peppers, etc. Its only May.

You know me. I usually start planting in late March and early april. To have all of the planting of the myriad varieties now crammed into the late weeks of spring is driving me nuts.
