Still No Baby

Which is not a surprise.  Patti gave birth exactly on her due date for the last two kids, and the first was two days early because they induced her.  By the doctor reckoning we have 11 days left to go and I suppose that is just what it is going to be.

Patti would be thrilled if the baby would just fall out of her now.  Hauling the baby around in this fashion is just far beyond easy or comfortable, and combining that with there being no room for food or air with how much room the kid takes up, she is constantly hungry and out of breath (not to mention having to pee every time she takes a sip of water).

For me, other than getting her whatever she needs, I am sorting seeds, planning gardens, starting seeds (yeah, I started a couple dozen Lemon Drop Peppers the other day) and tending to the plants that have sprouted, which means making sure they don’t dry out, and spraying things with nicotine/DAWN tea to kill aphids which love to overwinter on the large pepper plants, sucking the life out of them.

Chickens are happy and greet me with contented clucks every day when I stop by to feed/water them.  The malformed cobs of corn are an eagerly anticipated treat, as well as all of the sunflower heads, of which I dole out a couple for them to peck apart every day out in their run.  Gets them outside for some fresh air and sunlight too.

Went fishing yesterday with all of the kids, which went fair, but but no fish for eating.  I did have some fish in the freezer though I took out and cooked up for dinner.  They were part of what I had stashed last summer that I caught up north.  Nice to have freezers full of food.

Now I have to clean out my old pickup.  Going to sell it.  Getting a minivan soon because once the baby is born we will no longer be able to fit all of us in the sedan or the Explorer.  Going to miss those two vehicles.  Keeping the sedan as my commuter vehicle.  Life goes on.

  1. Guess this one is too cozy. For you wife’s sake, hope that the baby gets bored of its confines soon!

I think you should be ttoally fine, but I only have my experience to speak from. (My first one took 9 hours and my second one took 16!) But really, I doubt your baby will come flying out on Monday if you haven’t dilated at all yet.Something I couldn’t live without? I’d have to say that since you’re breastfeeding you should buy yourself a bunch of built in bra tank tops. One, because you’re the mom and you should get something too; and two, because it makes it super easy to pop a boob out for your baby without undressing yourself from the waist up! I could not have breastfed without wearing them, I think the convenience of having super accessible boobs made it easier to breastfeed my babies! So I say, buy yourself something that will make your life easier in the weeks/months to come!

i think you’ll be fine take water with you to drink, so you don’t get dehydrated, and to decerase swelling from traveling in the car a 2 hour drive should be ok you could always order the last minute stuff online from target they deliver pretty quickly although, i’m sure you’d like to get out with my first child, i could not live without lansinoh (if you’re going to breastfeed) it really helped the sore nipples, and you don’t have to wash it off before nursing also, steeped tea bags help w/ sore nipples, and tender breasts GOOD LUCK WITH BREASTFEEDING HANG IN THERE IT TAKES ABOUT 2 WEEKS FOR BOTH OF YOU TO BE PROS AT IT BEST WISHES!!
